This is the youngest squad at Queen's Park. Most of the boys came from local primary schools or from recommendations by older players or parents.
The development squad played a number of games against local schools and boys' clubs. This season we have decided to go with a squad right from the start. The competition from other senior clubs for boys is immense and therefore by starting earlier and showing boys and their parents what quality coaching we offer we can attract the best calibre of player to our club.
All successful players that came through the tough preseason training and games were finally signed on 23rd October in Lesser Hampden’s Board Room with George Watson, Head of Youth Development, kindly introducing and welcoming all 12 players and families to the QP Youth Setup.
Hopefully this will be the start of some of their footballing journey’s that will see them pulling on a 1st team jersey in the years ahead and walking proudly out onto Hampden Park.
Certainly that is the hope all coaches connected to the club and if recent years have anything to go by then 3 or 4 of those players currently playing in the 1st team, have done just that.
All U12’s coaches have been encouraged by the hunger and commitment shown by the squad both in training and in the friendlies we’ve taken on, where we’ve played the likes of Airdrie, Kilmarnock, Hamilton and Motherwell and more than matched them in terms of attitude and skill.
Yes, in some of the games we’ve ultimately came away with a defeat but it’s not about that, its the manner in which we play that is always the most important aspect that the coaches look for and in each game were seeing development in all the kids.
It’s also worth mentioning that we currently have 2 players whose age means that they should be playing in our U11’s Development Squad but due to their ability and attitude at this early stage they have more than matched all challenges set down to them both in games and in training and as such they will remain in and around the U12’s set up this season.
A number of games have been arranged for the 12s as part of their development programme. Below is the list of the games arranged so far.

Finally, we thank all the parents / guardians who have also made a commitment to Queens Park by bringing their kids along twice a week to training and for matches at the weekend, hopefully they will all see their children enjoy themselves and develop as players through their 1st season with the club with the hope of many more to follow.
