Queen's 13s travelled to the new St Mirren football academy to play our second SPL team in the space of a week and the boys rose to the challenge by competing all over the pitch.
The first period saw St Mirren move the ball quicker but the Queen's lads got a bit closer which gave them more confidence against a well organised SPL team.
Chris Scott and James Beatie, as well as one or two others more than matched St Mirren when in possession of the football. There were few goals in the game and some neat patterns of play.
In the coming weeks/months we will add more technical aspects to the training with defending/shaping the priority in our session plans.
The boys did a bit better in their 1V1's all over the pitch which was the theme of our training which shows they are learning to take instructions onto the field of play.
With the season kicking off in 2 weeks time we will be working hard to get the fitness levels and match play up to the required levels so that we start the season in a positive manner.
The coaches commented 'We were pleased again at the hard work and attitude of all the players and looking forward to the challenges that lay ahead'.
