Queen's kicked off the second part of the season against QOTS at a bright sunny Lesser Hampden in perfect playing conditions and everyone was looking forward to league business after the long lay off.
We started with our familiar 1-4-4-2 formation and started the first period well even though our final ball or build up play was not to up to the high standards set earlier in the season.
Queen's did create a few chances but decision making and final pass let them down. QOTS defence was rock solid for much of the match.
The second period started similar to the first with the 13sdominating possession up to the final third but both teams were lacking that killer pass or penetrating run in behind.
Queen's decided to change formation 1-3-4-3 to pose more of a goal threat but again QOTS defence were holding firm and were very strong and disciplined.
The final period Queen's coaches challenged the players to go for a goal which our build up play deserved and it duly arrived in the last few minutes of the game when captain Stephen Caw latched onto a quality delivery from Jaimie Gallagher which was well received from the watching spectators.
David Brownlie along with the 2 GK's Ross and Scott who kept a clean sheet showed up well. The coaches have asked for an improvement in all aspects of our play as the tempo and quality on show was well short of standards set earlier this season but I'm sure once we get the match sharpness and fitness levels back we will improve.
