Rangers v Queen's Park

Following a physical work out in mid-week with sports scientist Martin McGinley Queen's traveled to Murray Park for an evening training match under the floodlights.

The match was arranged for the Queen's 15s squad who were unable to fulfill the fixture so in addition to the 14s Craig, Connor, Aiden and Brian from the 15s joined the 14s.

The first period played out as it had done at this venue previously with Queen's setting the tempo with Rangers unable to press high enough up the park to stop us building some promising attacks.

As always though Rangers had some strong players in their ranks who would always be dangerous on the counter. Following a free kick award Rangers opened the scoring. A pin point delivery followed by a headed finish put paid to the good work done by the Queen's players up to this point.

As the game progressed Queen's started to lose momentum with Rangers gaining greater control of the match with the 3 training sessions undertaken at Murray Park giving an obvious advantage.

To our credit the boy's stuck at it in what proved to be a very beneficial training match.

Murray Crouch said after the match 'You always expect a test when you come here, and tonight was no different. If we can replicate the performance of the first half here we will hard to deal with.

We looked stronger defensively which is an area we are working on so the boys can take a lot of positives from tonight as we do also as a coaching team'.
