Queen's returned to Lesser Hampden for today's early kick off against Stirling Albion in the hope of building on previous good performances. Taking a more offensive approach to team shape, the coaches intended to give the players the freedom to focus on playing to our undoubted strengths.
Both sides enjoyed spells of possession early on with Queen's beginning to take the ascendancy and being rewarded with a brave finish from McDonald which was no less than his performance in, holding it up, bringing others into play and looking dangerous in the box, deserved.
Queens further stamped their authority on the match moving the ball with conviction, slowing the play down when required and looking to change the tempo when the more direct option was on. Further goals followed with David Ramsay scoring a brace including a clinical touch and finish from just inside the box.
Possibly the best move in the match resulted in Gregor Wylie adding the finishing touches to a move built from Scott Smith at the back, linked across the park with James Marr providing a composed cut back following a well timed burst from midfield.
At times our opponents goal was under real pressure with Wilson and O'Donnell, among others, unfortunate not to find the back of the net. Vincent Newlands provided some great entertainment, showing the ability on the ball that he possesses with his work rate getting him on the end of a deep cross to the back post which left the goalkeeper stranded to score.
Overall another display of good attacking football which left the players and coaches looking forward to training midweek.
Coach Murray Crouch after the game said 'Lots of positives from today's game. Great to see us playing our passing football with a real purpose, looking dangerous going forward while looking increasingly stronger at the back'.
