Queens Park 15s welcomed St Mirren to Lesser Hampden for their fourth game during pre-season. The team had performed well to date and this was another hard test against a normally strong and competitive St Mirren team.
The boys demonstrated their confidence as they started the game very well, causing St Mirren numerous problems. Queen's moved the ball quickly and their movement on and off the ball was very pleasing on the eye. Their dominance was rewarded with two goals from Craig Johnston.
Queen's squandered numerous opportunities to go further ahead as the first period came to a close.
The second period although was a entirely different story as St Mirren began to boss the game as Queen's struggled to regain any rhythm in their play. Queen's spent most of this period camped deep in their own half. St Mirren to their credit capitalised on their pressure by scoring four goals against a shell-shocked Queen's.
The third period saw Queen's improving their play, competing one on one and creating some goal opportunities unfortunately for Queen's, St Mirren were awarded a penalty and scored.
Coaches and players reflected on the game and highlighted aspects of our game that need to more consistent, however with exception to the 30mins period of play Queen's Park U15s can be happy with their continued preparation for the new season.
