Queen's Park welcomed Alloa Athletic to Lesser Hampden for their late afternoon home tie. Alloa had proved to be tough opposition in Queen’s previous encounters but the young spiders have been in good form and were looking forward to this game. Queen's were without Connor McGuiness and Aiden Connelly but drafted in Fabio Capuano and MacAulay Wilson from the 14s squad.
At 3.45pm Queen's got the game under way but it was Alloa who demonstrated their intent by pressing the 15s back into their own half.
Queen's were beginning to put Alloa’s defence under pressure and were soon one up due to a bit of magic from Craig Johnston. Kyle Rafferty won a header that fell to Michael Stewart who passed to Craig who ran inside to look up and place a curling shoot into the right hand corner.
This put Queen's at ease as they went on to dominate proceedings. Craig had a hand in Queen’s second goal as he whipped in a cross that was “dummied” by Mikey for Lawrence to head home.
The second period started with Queen's being awarded a penalty. Lawrence Shankland stepped up to bullet high for their keeper to superbly save onto the bar only for Lawrence to react and dive to header home.
Craig Johnston reacted to a good chipped pass from Johnny Brown to finish with a left foot strike.
Good pressing from Lawrence enabled Raymond Lynch to add his name onto the score sheet to strike home.
Alloa still working hard pulled one back. As the Queen's defenders hesitated they drove down their right to cut back for their stinker to strike home.
With 45mins played the 15s introduced Ryan Ritchie, Kieran Tolland, Fabio Capuano and MacAulay Wilson to the play.
MacAulay on his debut reacted to a well placed pass by Craig Johnston for the 14s midfielder to place it by the oncoming keeper.
Raymond added more followed by strikes from Lawrence and Kyle.
Queen’s coaches commented "We anticipated a tough game today but the boys reacted positively. There were many pluses with Craig Johnston demonstrating good awareness with his unselfish play creating opportunities for Lawrence, Raymond and MacAulay. Lawrence and Raymond took their goals well and finally there were competent performances from our 14s players Fabio and MacAulay. Well done".
