Queen's 15s made the trip north to play Arbroath 15s at Carlogie Park in Carnoustie. After making good time and locating the park the team decided to stretch legs in the town centre. The boys decided that the adventure playground on the sea front would be a better idea than walking. This was an ideal warm up.
So to the game. It was Queen's who were quick out the traps by scoring with one of their first attacks. Jack Murphy played the ball into the path of Blair Spittal who crossed the ball into the box and Aiden Connelly slotted home from close range.
Raymond Lynch got on the score sheet when headed in from Craig Johnston corner.
Queen's then suffered a set back as Arbroath got a goal back, with a good header from a corner.
Just before the break Queen's managed to score another 2 goals. The 1st was a tremendous overhead kick by Raymond from the edge of the box. The 2nd saw Craig Johnston run on to a through ball from Jack Murphy rounding the keeper to slot the by home, despite pressure from a defender.
It was Arbroath who hit the net first in the second period. After a great save from Cammy Duncan the ball broke to an Arbroath striker who fired the ball into the net.
This goal gave Queen's a jolt and the boys began to dominate the proceedings. Kieran Tolland scored after Raymond headed on a Mickey Stewart corner. It was then the turn of Connor McGuiness to get on the score sheet as he ran onto a pass from Raymond. He drove at the Arbroath goal and hit a shot from the edge of the box.
As the period was coming to a close Raymond got his 3rd when he rose above everyone to meet a Kieran corner.
In the 3rd period Queen's went on to score another 2 goals. Aiden, who was picked out in the box by Mickey after he made a good run down the wing, scored the 1st of these.
Aiden then turned provider for Craig Johnston to score. Once again it was a through by that he ran on to. This time Craigie beat the keeper from the edge of box with a well-drilled shot.
There was no more scoring during the game and both teams must be compliment for such a good game.
Queen’s coaches commented "After a great start we allowed Arbroath into the game, but their 2nd goal kicked us into action. We then began to keep better possession and try to play the ball on the deck as much as we could. We now look forward to last game of the season and hopefully finish the season unbeaten. This would be fantastic for all of us, players and coaches, who have been involved with the 15s squad this season".
