Queen's Park v Alloa Athletic

A perfect night for football tonight at Lesser Hampden and it saw the 16s put in their best performance of the season to date.

Queen's dominated the first half hour retaining possession and threatening the Alloa goal at every opportunity. A corner from the right was flicked on at the near post by Ryan McGeever and Andy MacLachlan finished from close range. Queen's nearly had another but McGeever headed wide from close range.

The 16s passing and moving game was encouraging to watch. It was from yet another flowing move Kris Gebbie crossed from the right and Kyle MacBeth was there to finish well.

The second half saw a number of changes. This did not detract from performance of the 16s. They continued with their excellent play and were rewarded when the ball fell to Kyle McLachlan at the edge of the area and he drilled home a low shot.

The performance was topped off with a fine goal from Kyle MacBeth, taking his tally to four goals in four games.

Alloa came back into the game in later in the second half and created a number of chances. However, Queen's goalkeeper Kieran Hughes, was in fine form saving a penalty and having two outstanding stops with the Alloa forward bearing down on goal.

Queen's coach Andy Armour commented 'An all round excellent performance. We were pleased with the manner in which we kept possession and the boys' hard work in training is now paying off'.
