Stirling Albion v Queen's Park

he 16s faced Stirling Albion at Forthbank on Sunday looking to build on the impressive performance last week against St Johnstone.

Queen's started well dominating possession and it wasn't long before they opened the scoring. A well worked corner by Ryan Bennett and Kyle McLachlan was swung into the near post where Kyle MacBeth headed home.

Not long after another corner for Queen's and another great delivery from Ryan Bennett to the near post. This time a firm header from Ryan McGeever hit the back of the net.

Queen's looked in complete control of the game but a lapse in concentration let Stirling back in. A ball over the top put Stirling in behind the Queen’s defence and they finished well.

A stunning strike gave Queen’s their 2 goal advantage back. Tyler McGuigan from 25 yards out with an outstanding strike which found the top right hand corner of the net – a great goal!

Into the second half and Stirling Albion were having a decent spell putting Queen’s under pressure. Queen's were unable to keep the ball the way they had in the first half.

Stirling got their reward and then went looking for an equaliser. It took an incredible save from Craig Gordon to prevent that happening as he somehow got a hand to tip the ball onto the post after the opposition striker had struck from no more than 6 yards out.

Queen’s could have finished the game after being awarded a penalty but the keeper saved from Frankie Kameni. However, Frankie made amends minutes later as he raced clear of the Stirling defence before lifting the ball over the keeper – a great finish.

Queens coach Mark McCarney: "We were pleased today with the quality of the finishing especially the two headed goals. However, the manner in which we conceded the goals was disappointing and Stirling had a decent spell in the second half when the boys seemed to lose their shape. A good overall performance but plenty to continue working on".
