Queen's 16s first competitive game of the new season was a local derby against Glasgow rivals Partick Thistle. This game provided to be a stiff test for the squad who had a number of new faces featuring after a successful pre season.
Thistle started the game well and were dictating the first 10 minutes but failed to make their dominance count. Queen's then began to win more of the ball and began to display the fluent passing game which their renowned for.
Queen's looked the more likely to score as the game progressed but a combination of good defending by Thistle and poor final ball by Queen's resulted in no goals in the first half.
The second half was much the same but Queen's taking advantage of a 'stramash' in the box midway through the second half with a new signing, Andy Robertson slotting the ball home.
The same player then added a second 10 mins later from the penalty spot after a handball in the box.
Coach Graham Connell commented 'Overall an excellent performance with all new signings showing up well'.
