Queen's Park 1-1 Edinburgh City

Queen's entertained Edinburgh City on Friday at Lesser Hampden. Tonight's opposition are a boys club which is full of ex Hearts, Hibs and Livingston players. With that quality it was no surprise they won the Scottish Cup last season. How would our boys perform after their outstanding performances against the old firm last weekend?

Queen's started on the front foot and to be honest continued the game like this. The play was at a decent standard only cutting edge and final pass was letting the 17s down. As is always the case you when dominating the play the counter from the opposition is always a worry. With almost 30minutes gone Queen's found themselves 1-0 down, with what seemed like their Edinburgh city's first attack. The opposition scored a superb goal from a deep cross with a wonderful looping header over the advancing Queen's goalkeeper. As is the way with Queen's they dusted themselves down and went on the attack again but with no reply before the break.

At the interval a few choice words were made and the 17s came flying out the blocks in the second half and scored with their first attack.

Excellent wing play on the left with an in swinging cross to the back post. Three Queen's players attacked the area and Kieran Blackwood managed to win the header and loop the ball into the far corner - it is more more than what the boys deserved for their efforts. Now can they score more? Unfortunately the answer is no. Similar to last weekend against Rangers the boys peppered the visitors goals creating numerous opportunities but failed to convert and had to settle for a score draw.

Coach Paul Ronald commented "The exercise was well worth while as we will encounter similar teams who are also strong, physical and fit this season, we hope the boys use the experience of this type of game and come up with the answers of what is needed to win such duals".

Onto Monday and we step into a European tie against FC Levadia from Estonia. They are on tour and have already played Rangers 17s and Falkirk's 19s. So they will offer a different test to the young spiders.

The match will be played at Lesser Hampden with a 8:00pm kick-off.
