Queen's Park 0 - New Zealand

The 17s took on New Zealand schools under 18s as a warm up game for them before they take on Scotland schools on Wednesday. Going just with the size of these Kiwi kids Queen's knew they would be in for a tough afternoon.

The game started with Queen's on the front foot and they pushed the Kiwis back and with this a few half chances were created without really testing the New Zealand keeper.

As always Queen's looked to be positive playing and passing their way forward. The 17s did have concerns about the speed of the Kiwis counter attacks and this caused some concern in the first half.

Into the second with some personnel changes Queen's again took the game to their older opponents but they stood strong and restricted the Queen's attacks with well organised and disciplined defending.

Queen's had the bulk of the second half and caused the New Zealand keeper more concern with Queen's best effort beating the keeper from a Kieran Kennedy shot after good link up play from Daniel Hepburn, but the shot hit the post and rebounded to safety.

The game ended without any goals but it has to said it was an entertaining game played in the right spirit.

Coach Paul Ronald commented "I thought again our young kids did the club proud with their style and attitude, with the new Zealand coaches commenting on this.

This is a huge plus from today as the youngsters spread the Queen's message to the other side of the world.

We wish the New Zealand kids and coaches a safe and entertaining visit to sunny Scotland".
