Queen's entertained Clyde 17s, in a friendly match, today at Lesser Hampden. With the last game churning out a few goals we hoped for some of the same today.
We weren't disappointed. Queen's created numerous chances in the first half and the Clyde goalkeeper again was having an inspired game.
The first goal managed to come after 30mins. A through ball by Owen Ronald was controlled by Danny Hepburn who rounded the goalkeeper and fired the ball into the net.
This was well deserved although 5mins later Clyde equalised. This was from a 35 yard shot which caught Paul Cankaya out with ball looping in behind him.
Queen's pushed to get their tails up and didn't have to wait long. Again it was Danny Hepburn who scored turning and driving to edge of box before slamming the ball into the corner of the goal. Half time 2 1
It took Queen's until 70mins before they managed to breach Clyde again, although they had numerous chances. The 3rd was a belter. A good run from Mark Davis and the ball eventually working wide to Jordan McGuire who checked inside and bent one into the top bin with his left foot.
Queen's were now in full flow and you could see the boys up the tempo in an attempt to score more. 2min later in fact. Good defence pass from Thomas Houston resulting in Danny Hepburn turning and firing the ball towards goal and deflecting in for his hat trick.
The 5th came in 80mins. Kieran Kennedy beat his man and got shot away. The Clyde keeper saved again but this time the rebound fell to Kieran Blackwood who cheerfully slotted the ball home.
Coach Paul Ronald commented after the game "A decent performance and I was very pleased today with the quality and tempo of our passing, the boys showed a superb style of football today - a joy to watch".
