Queen's Park 0-2 Queen of the South

Today Queen's 17s entertained Queen of the South at Lesser Hampden in their fourth league game of the season. Queen's were unbeaten so far in this campaign. Would it be five without loss?

The 17s knew they had to be disciplined and hope they would play to their passing style. Right at the start it looked as if they could and barring poor finishing and the ball hitting the woodwork 3 times in the first 20 minutes Queen's could have been well in front.

As it happens sometimes in games like this Queen's got caught with a sucker punch and found themselves 1-0 down. The 17s huffed and puffed after this cruel set back and didn't get into their normal stride although they still created numerous chances in the first half with the strikers feeling very frustrated.

Into the second half and the boys came out at a decent level, forcing Queen of the South onto the back foot. It was obvious the counter was their plan and they tried to Queen's down at every occasion.

The 17s found they still couldn't finnish and some decisions became a problem for them. With Queen's pressing forward they then got caught with a long ball which we should have dealt with. Grant Hay, Queen's goalie came for the ball and collided with a Queens forward. A penalty was awarded and converted. 2 0 down.

That's football at times and the boys took it on the chin and tried their up most to drag themselves into the game but similar to start of the game poor finishing and bad luck let them down.

Queen's coach Paul Ronald commented 'The boys can take a lot out of the game with the ideas in playing the right way. A good experience having to deal with strong opposition and the fact they kept a good discipline was pleasing if not the final result. Onwards and upwards'
