Tonight's League Dup section game is against Airdrie United. This game should have been played last Wednesday but was cancelled at the last minute. It was always going to be tough for the boys to reach the standard of Sundays performance against Clyde. Could they reach that level tonight?
Unfortunately they couldn't get out of third gear. Queen's never got their game going at all and huffed and puffed throughout. They did manage to get some good forward play but couldn't find the killer touch.
Queen's managed a goal on 27min through Daniel Hepburn after a ball was cleared of the line. You would think the goal might open the 17s up a bit but still they couldn't get it together,
Queen's scored a few minutes later after a good pass from Jordan McGuire to Danny who finished superbly.
The 17s did now look better and created a few more chances getting a penalty when Owen Ronald got brought down after a good run into box. Danny converted the penalty for the half to finnish 3-0.
Into the second Queen's pushed the ball about better and scored just after half time when the Airdrie goalkeeper tried to clear only for the ball to hit Danny and float into the empty net.
At 4-0 you might might think the young Queen's team could enjoy the remainder of the game but they just couldn't get their game going even though they did create a few good opportunities.
Coach Paul Ronald commented "A tough night for the kids and for everyone watching the game. This wasn't one of the best of games to watch. The kids can take some credit for scoring some goals and getting a clean sheet but we need to work harder to try and keep the high standards we have been showing".
