Queen's made the journey north to Stirling University's ground to play East Stirlingshire in the second league of the season. The 19s were unlucky to drop two points on Sunday against Wraith Rovers would they find their winning form tonight? Changes were forced by the suspension of McCrone as a result of the last minute penalty on Sunday. Blackly took McCrone's place in midfield.
Queen's started the game well and were well in top in the first twenty minutes with the back three looking more than capable - big strong and leading by example.
The midfield players, especially Lachlan and Afzal, dominated the play in midfield and created many chances. Queen's were rewarded after 22mins when Morton got on the end of a delivery from the right from Baillie to nod home at the back post.
The 19s were now bombing forward at every opportunity and were 3-0 up after 30mins with goals from again Morton, from the spot 27mins, and Graham who lobbed the keeper on the 30mins mark.
Queen's continued to create and were unlucky not to add to the score line before half-time
Queen's never really got going in the second half which was disappointing after the way they played in the first half.
The Queen's team was: McPherson, Baillie, Gallacher, Green, McPherson, Lachlan, Afzal, Blockley, O’Hara, Graham & Morton,
The subs were: Sinclair for Green(67mins), Barbour for Blockley(67mins) & Nadeen for Graham(74mins).
Subs not used were: Murney & Chamberlain.
Coach Robert Kelly commented 'Given our start last season this was a good three points. Special mentions go the back three of Baillie Gallacher & Green who dominated and used the ball well and the front two who looked sharp and could have scored many more goals'.
